VPN Connected But Not Working?

When your VPN shows connected but your IP does not change, this is usually a routing or app-level bypass issue.

  1. Check VPN off: note your public IP.
  2. Check VPN on: refresh and compare.
  3. If IP does not change, traffic is bypassing the tunnel.

Most common causes

Fix sequence (fastest first)

  1. Switch to another VPN server in the same region.
  2. Disable split tunneling temporarily and retest.
  3. Toggle VPN protocol (WireGuard/OpenVPN/IKEv2 depending on provider).
  4. Disable IPv6 on device or enable IPv6 protection in VPN app.
  5. Flush DNS cache and reconnect VPN.
  6. Restart the VPN adapter/service and reboot the device.

Contact support if IP still does not change after protocol/server swap and split tunneling is off. Share your platform, app version, and the exact off/on IP comparison.
